Many automotive companies have a long and noble history. They also tend to have a fairly rigid internal structure. You have your powertrain engineers over here, your safety engineers over there, and your infotainment engineers somewhere else altogether. Read more >>>
Leading AV, consumer electronics and silicon companies have joined forces to launch the AVnu Alliance, a new lobby group which will work to promote emerging IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) networking standards for industries including professional AV, automotive and consumer electronics. AVnu Alliance aims to establish a professional quality A/V experience in networked environments, whether an HD television or music studio, a car, a concert hall, a stadium or a home theater. Out-of-sync audio and video, glitches and delay can occur in many of these settings, unless complex, proprietary solutions are deployed. In networked whole-home audio solutions, there is no standards-based solution to make the speakers play in sync. Read more >>>
AVnu Alliance aims to establish a professional quality a-v experience in networked environments. The Alliance is promoting the IEEE standards, currently in development, for 802.1 AVB (Audio Video Bridging) and also the related IEEE 1722 and 1733 (which extends RTP for use with AVB). Read more>>>
An ad hoc industry group that debuts Tuesday (August 25) will drive standards that could bring Ethernet to new automotive and professional audio/video markets and enhance tomorrow's home networks. Read more >>>
A group of industry-leading audio/video (A/V), consumer electronics and silicon companies today (August 25, 2009) announced the launch of AVnu Alliance. Read more >>>
The US-based standards organisation, the IEEE, announced the first standard in a project to synchronise audio and video communications has moved to sponsor ballot. The sponsor ballot stage allows interested parties to offer feedback on a standard draft proposal before it is forwarded for consideration as a formal standard. Read More >>>
A multiyear effort by the IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) Task Group is nearing completion on series of enhancements to the legacy Ethernet standards that enable the delivery of time-synchronized, low-latency audio and video over Ethernet networks--with perfect Quality of Service (QoS)--while retaining 100% compatibility with legacy Ethernet networks.
